The Baldwin School’s six raised beds were built in 2009 on the south side of the school located in the playground. Growing at the Baldwin garden are a strawberry patch, herbs, vegetables, and an in ground perennial bed. The garden has a shed and composter.
The CitySprouts garden coordinator is at this school 10 hours per week, April through November.
CitySprouts is a school garden program founded on the principle that all children should experience hands-on learning with real-world applications, support and practice in making good food choices, and a life-long connection to the natural world. CitySprouts’ garden educator is at the Baldwin School twice each week during the fall and spring to support teachers' lessons and projects in the school garden. Our FoodCorps service member helps teachers' with projects through the winter. Middle schoolers throughout the city participate in CitySprouts summer program in July and August.
