Students plant and harvest a variety of vegetables in the garden. A large pollinator and herb bed is along the sidewalk for the public to enjoy. The garden has a shed and composter. CitySprouts expanded the Maria L. Baldwin School in 2025 installing new raised beds and planters that are pest and rodent resistant.
CitySprouts is a school garden program founded on the belief that all children should have the chance to explore science through hands-on, real-world experiences from an early age. By observing, experimenting, and discovering in the garden, students build a strong foundation in science learning and curiosity about the natural world.
A CitySprouts Garden Educator visits the Maria L. Baldwin School every other week throughout the year. Garden Educators partner with the classroom teacher to engage students in investigations and projects.
CitySprouts also offers volunteer opportunities in the garden year-round. If you’d like to get involved, please email [email protected].
