Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

The first bell rings at 8:40AM to signal that students may enter their classrooms and begin their learning and activities. At 8:50AM, there is a last bell to signal that students have a few minutes before they are marked tardy. Students walking into classrooms after 8:55AM are marked as “tardy.”

Late Arrival
Classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:50AM. Students who arrive after 8:50 must report to the main office where they will receive a pass to present to their teacher. When a child arrives late, they are marked Tardy. This is part of the child’s permanent record.

At 2:55PM the bell rings to mark the end of the day. Students begin leaving the school or boarding the school bus by 3PM.

Please keep your child’s teacher informed of your child’s after school routine. If plans will be changing on a particular day, please call the main office before noon and request that a message about the change be sent to the teacher. For your child’s safety, please do not leave voicemail messages about pick-up changes. Please do not assume that we have gotten the message of a same-day change until you talk with someone in person or get an email confirmation.

If an unforeseen event prevents you from picking up your child by 3:05PM, or your child does not arrive on the school bus, please call the main office and try extensions 0, 100 and 101. If you do not reach someone in the office, call CPS Transportation and/or Safety & Security at 617.349.6772.
