Students and families are welcome to use the library for checkout and
book browsing during school hours or when Mrs. Kugel is in the library.
Family members who wish to borrow from the library’s collection may sign
up for a “Family Library Card” with Mrs. Kugel. Family members other
than students may check out two books. Computers in the library may be
used throughout the day by supervised students as well as teachers.
Please refrain from the printing of personal materials. Seating may be
used in the library by whole classes or by individuals. Please contact
Mrs. Kugel to schedule use of the library space during the day.
K-5
students come weekly for library class. Library standard based lessons
and skills are taught through games, songs, and projects. Children have
approximately 10-15 minutes at the end of each library class to browse,
borrow, and read/look at books. Through collaboration and co-teaching
with the classroom teacher throughout the year, students will learn and
use 21st century skills through research and other projects. Grade 4 and
5 students also participate in the Massachusetts Children’s Book
Awards. All students are welcome in the library for book check out and
renewal throughout the day when there are no classes in session with
permission from their classroom teacher.
