Winter Gardening

Winter Gardening

This year for the first time, CitySprouts will be present at Baldwin throughout the winter including the month of January! While the garden may not be the most appealing place to be during the winter, there is plenty of hands on plant-based learning to do indoors. Here are some of the many possibilities:

  • Planting in the classroom to learn about life-cycles and measure plant growth using graphing skills.

  • Cooking is a great way for classes to create a meal from a region they are studying, or use a grain mill to grind wheat or corn into flour for baking bread and tortillas.

  • And of course winter is a great time for the students to observe works, and learn about how they turn waste into soil.
