GardenWith all the warm weather, we have finally put our "hot weather" seedlings in ground including tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and basil. While our salad greens are coming to an end, we are looking forward to delicious salad parties using our fresh garden herbs and edible flowers, or we can make mint basil lemonade in the garden!

Here are a few things that classrooms have been doing in the garden:

  • Examining new plants for scientific observation
  • Measuring peas with rulers or blocks, working on US standard and metric conversions
  • Using the compost for lessons on soil health and life cycles
  • Measuring and watching shadows change with the transition from spring into summer
  • Examining vertebrates and invertebrates in the garden
  • Garden tasks including watering, weeding, planting, digging
  • Learning about the history of the 3 sisters garden and watching it
grow from start
  • Scientific experiments around how to germinate seeds
  • Writing garden inspired poetry
