Dear Baldwin Families,
Happy August! I hope you have found some extra time with friends and family this summer and that you’ve had some time outside!
I’m writing with a mid-summer update and to give you sense of when you’ll hear from us with the much anticipated class placements for 1st-5th graders and for newly registered JK/K students. I also want to invite you to some playground meet-ups that will give interested families an opportunity to connect with each other before school starts.
Class placements will be mailed during the week of August 20th, when Ms. Elaine returns to Baldwin. We know that these might feel late in coming, but we do have changes and new students over the summer and we want the placements to be accurate when you get them. If you don’t have your class placement by August 24th, please call the main office or email me. Given privacy issues, we only give you your child’s class placement. Many families utilize social media to share their class placements with others if they choose.
The two informal summer playground meetups will be from 4-6PM at the Baldwin Playground. They will be on Sunday, August 19th and Tuesday, August 28th. The 19th is a great opportunity for our new JK/K families to get to know the playground and meet others, but all Baldwin families are invited! For the meetup on the 28th, all Baldwin families are also invited and you should have your class placement by then, which will be great for connecting with other families in your child’s class! These events are informal and aren’t staffed, so just show up when you can and strike up a conversation while you watch the kiddos play and make friends! On the 28th, I’ll stop by for a few minutes from 4-4:30PM or so just to say hello. Maybe I’ll see you then!
Can’t make these dates? Don’t worry! We have a playground meetup in the fall that is also fun and well attended by families and some staff (and popsicles are provided)! The date for that is Sunday, September 9th and times will be designated by grade level between 2 and 5PM.
I like to talk with parents and hear about what you are loving about Baldwin and how we can better serve your children. Parents are invited and always welcome to contact Elaine Coleman, at the main office desk to set up an appointment with me. The wonderful Susan Tiersch, Family Liaison is also a gem of a resource for Baldwin families and I know many of you already know that!
Take good care and enjoy the rest of the summer. I’m excited for the new school year and my second year at Baldwin!
With Love,
Heidi Cook, Principal
