Class Placements and Start of School Info

Class Placements and Start of School Info
Posted on 08/20/2025

Class placements went out last week on August 14th and 15th. I'm working through students who have been recently assigned and you will have your class placement information by next week. You can also call the school (617.349.6525) or email [email protected] or [email protected] and we can share the class placement information with you.

In addition to the class placement information, I shared the following information and wanted to post it here.

Please watch for a welcome letter from your teacher later in August! (If you have twins–please watch for a follow up communication if their placements aren’t clear).

Teachers are thrilled to meet their incoming students. Please help set the tone for a great year by modeling positivity for students--meeting new teachers and friends can be a wonderful opportunity even if it might also produce a level of anxiety. Kids will take your cues--so be mindful of your own language as you talk about teachers and other students to help start the year out right for your child.

Please know that the process of class placement is complex and involves many people and multiple steps and for this reason, class placements are firm. We understand that we have not been able to meet every parent’s request. It would simply be impossible to do so.

I’m always open to talking with parents about their concerns so we can start the year with a plan in place to support each student’s success in their new class. We definitely want your child to be successful!

2nd Grade Model
In 202 and 204, students move between two teachers (Megan Powers and Karma Paoletti) in a model of subject departmentalization. Ms. Andrea Jasmin’s second grade class, Room 215, is self-contained.

5th Grade Departmentalization/ Mixed Groups
In 5th grade this year, students will move between both classrooms for science and social studies, allowing teachers to specialize in one of those subject areas. In addition, students will be in mixed groups for Instrumental Music, where they will be grouped based on their instrument.

Please see the email I sent recently for detailed information about arrival and dismissal and other important information, procedures and routines. That letter can also be found here.

I’m looking forward to a great year with you!

My Best,

Heidi Cook
