In our kindergarten classrooms, you will see some 'beautiful stuff'. This is inspired by the book,
Beautiful Stuff! Learning with Found Materials by Cathy Weisman Topal. Last year, our kindergarten team met with Ms. Topal to learn about this program.
Beautiful Stuff encourages students to discover, sort, arrange and think with found and recyclable 'things'. Students are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and come up with their own personal designs. This playful learning integrates found materials and visuals arts, where children actively participate and control their learning, creating in ways that are meaningful to them.
