Ms. Logiudice’s 4th grade class showed off their cooperative work while tackling cup stacking challenges in Art class. Ms. Lilli gave the students different challenges that required problem solving, where students worked in teams to solve. First involved stacking cups into a tower in teams of two. Then, without touching the cups, the team of two was challenged to stack the cups into a pyramid using a rubber band and strings that resembled a spider. The team members worked cooperatively during this team building challenge pulling the strings to expand the rubber band, then lower the band around the cup and then release the strings so the rubber band grasp the cup. Then, the challenge was to have four team members working together to perform the same task. And, the toughest challenge was a team of eight. Students offered suggestions and encouragement to their team members as they worked as a team to make a cup pyramid.
