The Baldwin kindergarten teaching team and the students of K104 experienced a class on beautiful things from the author of the book,
Beautiful Stuff! Learning with Found Materials, Cathy Weisman Topal. Ms. Topal's program encourages students to discover, sort, arrange and think with found and recyclable 'things'. The students were encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and come up with their own personal designs. This playful learning integrates found materials and visuals arts, where the children actively participate and control their learning, creating in ways that are meaningful to them.
