Neutral Buoyancy - Flinker!

Neutral Buoyancy - Flinker!
Posted on 11/16/2015
flinkerStudents of the Baldwin STEM club learned all about neutral buoyancy at their last meeting. The challenge was to build a 'thingy' that likes to hang out in the middle of the water using styrofoam peanuts, string, washers or pennies. If the design does not float to the top or sink to the bottom of the water, it 'flinks', meaning the body's mass equals the mass it displaced in the water.

On Friday mornings, the STEM Club students engage in projects, explorations and math competition problems. They work with friends, teachers and parent and guardian volunteers to build, create and solve.

STEM Club will host their third annual STEM Night on December 8. Join them – think like an engineer!
